Margaret Clark And Leigh Hobbs Visit Toolooa PDF Print E-mail

Students who attended Margaret and Leigh’s sessions certainly had an interesting time...

Margaret Clark talking to students about her recent book.

Margaret talked about keeping a diary as a young girl and how this later helped with her writing. By talking about some of the things she kept in her diary, she was able to highlight the fact that many teenage concerns are still similar today. She then read a segment from her recent book before involving the students in a quick writing activity which demonstrated how easy it is to create an interesting start to a story in just three steps.
Leigh certainly drew out the creative ability of the students in his group. The importance of each line in a drawing and the significance of shading were highlighted as Leigh stepped the students through drawing his character, Old Tom. With a little guidance from Leigh, the students then created three characters of their own and their efforts were truly amazing!

Leigh talking with students who really enjoyed the learning experience.
