Congratulations to Year 11 student Peter O’Brien who was recently presented with a Youth Off The Streets scholarship, valued at $5000....
Peter is one of just 22 young people nationwide selected to receive this assistance. Youth Off The Streets was founded by Father Chris Riley in 1991 with the mission of providing all young people with the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential and to break the cycle of poverty, disadvantage and/or marginalisation. Scholarships are awarded to young people with genuine talent, ability and determination to assist them in achieving their educational and training goals. Peter intends to use his scholarship to assist him in gaining an apprenticeship. Peter and school chaplain Kerith Roby, who nominated him for this award, travelled to Sydney recently to receive the scholarship. It was presented at a gala dinner at the Sydney Hilton which was an extraordinary experience for Peter. He is now well on his way to achieving his goals.
