Welcome back to school for the beginning of our 2009 school year. I trust that we have all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and are ready for the challenges of the New Year.
At assemblies this week I have stressed two key messages with our staff and students:-
There will be many opportunities for our students to enhance their knowledge and skills during this year. Engaging successfully in the learning activities will strengthen each individual’s employment opportunities and pathways beyond secondary school.
Being proud of who you are, your achievements and the successes of the people around you, promotes a positive outlook for individuals and a great message in our community regarding life and learning at our school. I am very keen to have our young people focus on the positive aspects of our school and to be very proud of who they are and where they attend school.
ATTENDANCE
A simple message: – The more you attend school activities - the more opportunities you have to learn. The old adage Time is a Thief holds sway in this message – wasted time can not be retrieved. I would also add that being in the class is not enough; participation in the activity will achieve improved outcomes
UNIFORMS
One of the easiest ways to demonstrate pride in our school is the wearing of our school uniform. This year, our school has a major focus on our students being in their school uniform at school and when representing our school at community events. This week the wearing of uniforms has been tremendous and we recognise that all concerned are working together to achieve the best outcome. Students are very aware of this expectation and support from our parents would greatly appreciated.
