Congratulations
Congratulations to Hayden Collocott on his invitation to join Queensland Football’s 2009 United Kingdom Tour. Hayden will have an opportunity to train with the youth teams of some of English Football’s famous clubs and to be ‘on the hill’ during premier league matches. A great reward for dedication and personal effort.
Building Education Revolution
Next week, our school will commence a $2.2M building refurbishment program. The bulk of the funds, from the Queensland Government’s State Schools of Tomorrow Program, will be directed towards an upgrade of our science facilities ($1.4M) and 15 classroom upgrades ($642 000). The Australian Government will provide a further $200 000 from the National School Pride Program to fund additional shade structures, library improvements and external painting of some teaching blocks. Projects in this building refurbishment are expected to be completed by mid 2011.
Interim Progress Reports
As this term ends, each of our students will receive a report on their progress to date. In this early report, teachers will provide parents and students with an indication of academic progress and a comment on behaviour and student effort to engage with learning.
As part of this interim progress report, many teachers will request some parents to attend a parent teacher interview to provide additional details and suggestions that may enhance your student’s learning outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss your student’s progress in depth.
Financial statements will be posted with the reports during the April School vacation. Please direct any statement queries to the school Business Services Manager on 49714310.
Parent/Guardians of Students in Years 11 and 12
Participation at Toolooa requires your son/daughter to:
· Attend all lessons, unless absent due to a medical or other reasonable circumstance
· Be actively engaged in the program of study
· Complete assignments and all other assessment
· Maintain an attendance rate that allows the school to validate their completion of the course of study.
Failing to comply with the above, I may cancel your child’s enrolment as they are of non-compulsory school age. Due to the seriousness of the consequence, it is important that you fully understand the school’s expectations. If there are any concerns, please contact the school so we can discuss support options for successful engagement.
