| Improving Students Performance on NAPLAN & QCS Tests |

In 2009, Toolooa SHS has employed the services of Mighty Minds to work with staff and students so that students can achieve their individual best on the Yr 9 NAPLAN test and the Yr 12 QCS Test. Mighty Minds is a highly respected educational consultancy company that work with a vast number of schools in Queensland to better inform teachers and students about the format, structure and techniques required for success on these exams. They will be running workshops with our students to prepare them for the exams and equip them with successful test tasking strategies.
· YR 12 QCS Test Workshop: On Monday 6th April all students intending to sit the QCS test will undertake a full day workshop in the library. Students are required to bring calculators, lined paper, compass and a folder with plastic pockets.
· NON-QCS Year 12 Students: Monday April 6 has been set aside as a study day, where you will have the opportunity to catch up with school work at home. If this is not possible, supervision will be provided in the school library.
· YR 9 NAPLAN Test Workshop: On Tuesday 7th April all Yr 9 students will attend a 1hr session in the library. A rotation will be organised. Students are required to bring lined paper and a calculator.
Parent Information Sessions
As part of their service to the school, Mighty Minds will be running a parent information session to familiarise parents with the NAPLAN and QCS Test. These sessions will take place at the school library as follows:
Monday 6th April 2009
6.30 – 7.00pm Yr 9 Parents– Understanding the NAPLAN test
7.00 – 7.30pm Yr 12 Parents – Understanding the QCS Test and OP scores
