Middle Schooling
The student curriculum will include mandatory areas of study referred to below as CORE . Year 8 (all key learning areas are core)
Students choose three (3) electives from the following: Shop A, Shop B, Graphics, Home Economics, Japanese, Information Technology Studies, Business Information Technology, Music, Art, Media, Drama and Dance. Years 9 & 10 ( 2005/2006 ) During the course of Year 9/10, the key learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Study of Society and the Environment, Health & Physical Education will be CORE.
And three other subjects of the other three key learning areas:
A major area of study is one where a student has a minimum of 3 semesters in a subject from years 9 and 10.
Senior Schooling
Senior students now have opportunities to follow many different pathways into chosen careers. On completing Year 10 three pathways are immediately available. These are:
This school has developed a number of partnerships which allow students to participate in a number of areas. Education is a partnership with the school and it is in your own interest to monitor your own curriculum to ensure it satisfies your needs. When planning your course, if you find you need to know more about your options and the rules set out for us all to follow, you are invited to speak with Administration, the Guidance Counsellor, Brendan Burke, pathway Coordinator , Nathan Wyper or Heads of Departments in individual faculty areas. External agencies, such as Jobs Pathways Programme and Gladstone Area Group Apprentices Limited (GAGAL) are also able to assist students in making informed choices about their career options.
