Year 10 BIT Students Learning the Sharemarket PDF Print E-mail
Year 10 BIT students are currently competing in the Australian Sharemarket Game. Each group gets $50 000 (pretend money) to invest in shares. They have a list of 100 companies in which they can invest and they must have diversification and have no more than $12500 invested in any one company.

The students can buy and sell at any time, however, they are charged a commission (brokerage) every time they buy and sell. The competition runs for 10 weeks, with cash prices up for grabs for the top 3 teams in Queensland and also Australia.

The competition started on August 19 and students are enjoying this and most teams balances are still more than
$50 000.

At present we have one team coming 11th in Queensland out of 2000 teams, but as we all know this can change overnight, depending on the shares they chose and what the market does. Keep investing and good luck to all teams.
