The final outcome of studying Social Science is for students to take their place as competent, worthwhile, active and informed citizens in contemporary society.

Social Science provides students with opportunities to explore environmental, cultural, economic and political systems across a range of settings and periods of time.

The Social Science area promotes the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and thinking processes that enable students to participate as active and informed citizens in a democratic society and within a global context.

The Social Science Department supports the school motto, “Education for Life”, in that we prepare students not only for work, but to become informed, thinking adults.

It is essential that our students understand the society in which they live, the changes in society and, their place and their country’s place in the global context.
