Athletics Carnival 2014

The 2014 Toolooa Athletics Carnival was held on Friday of week one this term and fun was had by all. Like always the day was filled with an array of careport colours and many students even dressed up in costumes to make the day more fun. Some of the highlights were the hordes or year 12’s dressed up as tennis players and also a giant red inflatable man. Congratulations needs to go to all students and sports captains who took part during the carnival and participated in the lead-up field events during the last week of term. The level of school spirit and morale was excellent as was the war cries and chants that could be heard all day.

This year Keppel proved too strong against some good competition from all the other carports taking out the competition with 2790 points.

Many thanks go out to all staff that helped out on the day with marshalling, recording, and officiating. Without this dedication an event such as this can never take place. Also huge thanks to the Mr Scott Mercer for his dedication to and assistance in oval preparation and maintenance.

Interschool Athletics

The students who placed 1st and 2nd in each event then made the school team to participate in the Port Curtis Trials at Chanel College during the Thursday and Friday of week three of this term. All students who participated in these trials need to be congratulated on their excellent behaviour, hard work and effort during these trials.
Many students performed well during the trials but perhaps the standout for the day was Ally Ware who broke the 3000m record.

Congratulations goes to the following students who made the PC team:

Ryan Neale, Lyncoln Rebel, Ken Sagat, Brad Howard, Ally Ware, Georgia Muir, Alex Smith, Tenielle Spencer, Christian Hopkins, Keana Truskett, Chyanne Downing, Pieter De Wet, Janaya Ray, Maddy McPhail, Logan Parrish, Godfrey Henderson, Brad Preston and Joseph Bannan.

Once again all staff and parents need to be thanked for making the day run so smoothly.

Schools Cup Volleyball

Also in other sports news Mr Nathan Elvery and Mrs Laura Kistemaker took a group of our senior students to the Senior Schools Cup Volleyball Competition in Toowoomba. This is a major competition on the volleyball circuit with schools from all around the state taking part.

Both the boys and girls teams played very well throughout the tournament and I am sure they have gathered many valuable skills for their future in volleyball.

Throughout the competition both the boys and girls teams played some hard fought matches with the boys placing 8th and the girls placing 13th in their respective divisions.
Once again a huge congratulations needs to go out to all of the students who participated for their effort and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the competition. Also a big thank you needs to go to Mr Elvery and Mrs Kistemaker for their hard work before and during the competition.
