Congratulations Nic & Henry

Congratulations Nic & Henry
The NYSF Year 12 Program is designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (SEM) and to encourage them to continue their studies in these fields. At the NYSF Year 12 Program run in January each year, participants will:
  • Visit science and technology related laboratories and facilities
  • Go on site tours
  • Listen to lectures
  • Take Part in workshops
  • Go to social events
  • Participate in group activities that improve communication and presentation skills
Participants also take part in sessions on entrepreneurship, critical thinking, how to work together effectively, and more. The focus is not solely on academic achievements, but on developing well-rounded individuals who have the skills and confidence to determine their futures.

I am honoured to have been selected to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Canberra in January 2018. I would like to sincerely thank the Rotary Clubs of Gladstone for supporting this incredible learning experience. NYSF will give me the opportunity to expand my knowledge in Medical Science, as well as meet and socialise with other likeminded students. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the experience and broadening my horizons.

The process involved with selection for the National Youth Science Forum was an excellent experience for me to have undertaken. I am so grateful for the support of the school (and Mr Muller in particular) and the Rotary Clubs of Gladstone. We were very well prepared for the actual selection day and I know this only happens because of the hard work Toolooa Staff are prepared to invest in students. I would also like to acknowledge the support of Jasmine Elliott—current Toolooa student who attended NYSF last year. It was wonderful to be able to pick her brains about the opportunity. I am so excited about the chance to meet with other students from around the country and engage with them in furthering my passion for science. I look forward to spending time in Canberra and thoroughly intend to make the most of this fantastic opportunity.
