From The Deputy's Desk - Danielle Willard

From the Deputy’s Desk— Danielle Willard

I would like to introduce myself to the school community as one of the three Deputy Principals. My life in quick review, I grew up in Sydney,( but please don’t hold that against me when State of Origin is on), graduated from Uni in 1994, spent some time in Canberra, Toowoomba and Brisbane before moving to Gladstone.  Most people probably won’t know my name, although my face is possibly familiar due to my previous role working on the Regional Behaviour Team, a role that saw me working in nearly all of the schools around Gladstone. I am really looking forward to the opportunity of working with the staff and students at Toolooa.

The term so far……..

It has been a fantastic start to the school year. Students have returned eager to catch up with friends and of course, also enthusiastic to get stuck into their school work. This term is again like all school terms, busy. Teachers are very busy getting to know the students in their classes, preparing the students for what lies ahead. So far we have had the presentation of the school and student leaders on Wednesday, combined with the awarding of Dux for 2013. It is a real privilege to be part of a school where hard work, persistence and dedication is such a key component.

Students have already been showing the values that make Toolooa such a wonderful place. The core values of respect, achievement and responsibility are clearly visible and embedded into school culture. Teachers have been rewarding students with purple slips for both demonstrating these values by applying themselves to their learning. So many positive student behaviours have been observed, that we have almost run out of purple paper!

What a fantastic start to the school year.

Have a great term 1 everyone!

Kind Regards
