Maths Competition Success

On Monday 7th August, Mrs Small and Miss Batey took two teams to participate in the annual Year 7/8 QAMT Mathematics Competition at Gladstone State High School. Our teams competed against a range of other schools from the wider Gladstone district in 5 categories: speed, individual, problem solving, estimation and history/general knowledge.
Our students did us proud in the way that they conducted themselves, showing great sportsmanship along the way. Pleasingly, our Year 7 team was placed third overall, and our Year 8 team took out first place. These are outstanding achievements for our school and we couldn’t be more proud!
Next, our school will be represented at the Wide Bay regional competition, where our students will challenge the first-placed teams from the greater region.

On Tuesday 8th August, Toolooa SHS hosted the annual Gladstone District Senior Mathematics Teams Tournament.
We were represented by very strong year 11 and Year 12 teams. Over three rounds, which included individual, team and relay events, our Year 12 team finished 3rd overall for the competition and I am pleased to announce that our Year 11 team walked away with the trophy for best performing Year 11 team.
Our teams performed at a very high level and it is, once again, pleasing to see Toolooa’s Maths elite shining in - not only this competition - but all Maths Competitions held over the past 2 weeks.

Year 7 Info Night
Last night, we held our annual Year 7 Information Evening and School Tour. It was pleasing to see a great turn-out again this year and we are looking forward to welcoming a new group of excited Year 7 students in 2018. As always, our Junior Secondary Leaders did a wonderful job of leading the school tour.
Parents of students enrolling in 2018 are asked to return enrolment packages to the front office as soon as possible. Remember that if your child is coming from a private school, or has any additional needs, an enrolment interview is strongly encouraged.
Please see the friendly staff at the front office to arrange an appointment with one of the deputy principals.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s transition into high school, please feel free to contact the school; we’re more than happy to help.
