Deputy Principal - Amanda Stirling.
FROM THE DEPUTY’S DESK – AMANDA STIRLING
It’s good to be back!

I would like to introduce myself (finally) to the school community as one of your deputy principals.  While my face is new to most of you, I have been at Toolooa since 2005, and have returned this year from extended leave.

My portfolio includes year level responsibilities for years 9 and 10, Reporting and Assessment, School Wide Communications, Variation to School Routine, and Professional Learning.  I line manage the key learning areas of Science, Technology and The Arts, and I am proud to say that I am a Science and Mathematics teacher.

Reporting

Faculty assessment should be finalised this week, with report cards mailed out after the 18th April.  As per usual, the interim reports will report on student attitude, effort and behaviour, in each of their subjects, with no comments this round of reporting.

The Parent/Teacher interview night will be held on Tuesday 7th May, so please mark this date in your diaries now.  It is extremely important that parents/guardians make the most of this opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with teachers.  Instructions on how to book interviews online will be sent home with reports.

A busy term
Most of us would agree that this term, even though it has only been 9 weeks, has been a busy time for staff, students and parents.  I have met many members of our school community in my walks around the classrooms and grounds, and it is very obvious that we are all in need of a good Easter break!  I feel for our year 9 and 10 students in particular, because they are at an awkward point in their school life where they are not quite senior students and it is hard for them to visualise the ‘golden’ point when they graduate or move into training.  My message to those students and the families that support them is, ‘dig deep and give it your best – the time goes by quickly (too quickly).’

Happy Easter to all!
Warm regards,  Amanda Stirling
