Impressive NAPLAN Results
We are incredibly pleased with our students’ performance in NAPLAN this year. Yet again, our students have applied the skills that they’ve been learning over the past two years and produced an impressive performance.

The following information provides a summary of achievements from this year’s testing:

  • Toolooa SHS’s Year 9s out-performed the state of Queensland in every domain of testing:

  •  95% of Year 7 students, and 98% of Year 9 students, performed at or above national minimum standard in numeracy
  • Compared with 9.6% of students across the state, 13.3% of Toolooa SHS students performed in the top two bands of writing in Year 9
  • Improvement rates (relative gains) for our students from Year 7 to Year 9 were significantly greater than the average for both Queensland and Australia:

  • Year 9 students at Toolooa SHS achieved rates in the top two bands similar to, or greater than, the state, nation, and similar schools:

Out of all the results, we are most proud of our students’ relative gains (improvements).

These results indicate how far our students have travelled in terms of their literacy and numeracy results in their time with us. Seeing that our students produced significantly higher gains than the state and nation proves that our school community is working hard towards the goal of every student improving, every day. It also reinforces the idea that, for us at Toolooa, it is not always about being the best, but being your best!

QCAA has advised schools that parent reports should be received very soon. Once received, our office staff will work to get them sent home to parents in a timely fashion.

If you have questions about your child’s NAPLAN results, or interpreting the parent report, please don’t hesitate to contact the school and speak with our Junior Secondary Head of Department, Ashton Shonhan.
