Motivational Media

Motivational Media came to TSHS on Thursday the 18th July. Motivational Media is a dynamic 40 minute audio visual presentation reinforced with resource materials. They make use of three large, panoramic screens, along with state of the art synchronised projectors, producing an image 13 metres wide. This is combined with amplified sound, current popular music and inspirational stories creating an experience that grips students’ attention like no other program. It aims to both challenge and inspire young people to develop strategies that will enable them to reach their true potential so that their life choices will not be diminished through avoidable, reckless and harmful behaviours.

The 2018 production TAKE THE LEAD had the students following the journey of the presenter through three real Australian stories. These everyday Australians shared their history, struggles and failures that they had to personally overcome. The common theme was taking on a mentality of taking the lead, directing themselves despite the circumstances, not letting the circumstances direct them.

The students at Toolooa High School were captivated by the stories of:-

Jaiden- A young man of only 19 whose life was spiralling out of control and wanted out but didn’t know how to make a change. The opportunity came along in the form of the Glen Centre for rehabilitation, but it was Jaiden that had to take the lead, making the choice to join the program and allow the Glen to help him make the change ‘loving him back to life’.

Turia- An athlete caught in a bush fire that left her with major bodily burns. Her story demonstrates that to take the lead you first must believe in yourself, and proves that your circumstances only define you if YOU let them.

Ryan & Ollie- In 2014, after watching Ryan’s story as a school student at the time, Ollie was inspired to do a little flying himself. Ollie decided to follow his hero’s footsteps and solo circumnavigate Australia in a small aircraft at the young age of 17. He too wanted to visit schools and inspire students like Ryan had. Ollie shares his challenges raising the money for his challenge and weathering the hurdles on the way to one’s goals.
