2018 Girls STEM Camp
Congratulations to Chelsy Melville, KC Wright-Ramsay and Sarah Jeacocke who recently completed a week-long girls STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) camp at Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre. During their stay, the girls participated in activities such as monitoring our air quality, viewing an information session on astronomy, taking day trips to Canoe Point and Curtis Island, testing an underwater drone, facing their fear of heights on the high ropes and learning how to protect themselves from cyberbullying. The girls also had the opportunity to learn from a variety of guest speakers such as Dr Megan Ellis, a marine biologist and shark expert! What a fantastic learning experience! A big thank you to Cathy from the Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre for welcoming our Toolooa girls into such an exciting program. We look forward to working with you again in 2019.

2018 Relay for Life
Congratulations to members of the Toolooa Interact club who participated in the 2018 Cancer Council Gladstone Relay for life on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of July.
Students, with the support of Mrs Read, Mrs Patzwald, Ms Bos and Mick Read, fundraised and walked for 18 hours to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer. The team raised approximately $4000 (final figure to be determined once all fundraising efforts for the night are banked) to assist the cancer council in supporting patients and their families as well as research into find a cure for cancer. On the night, the 5kg Favourites chocolate raffle was drawn and the lucky winner was Amanda from team Westpac - thank you to everyone who supported the raffle.
Student and staff interaction for the event was fantastic and as supervising teachers we were honoured to be part of the team. Your behaviour, active participation and support of one another was excellent.
To all those involved, a big thank you for giving up your time to help make the world a better place!!
