Education News
Even though we are already half way through the year there are still plenty of events going on in the HPE department.
Port Curtis Athletics – On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week we had nearly 50 of our students competing in the Port Curtis athletics trials at the CQU/Tafe. The students participated in a range of events including all track and field events. It was fantastic to see a large group of our students participating well and representing our school colours with pride. A list of students who made the Port Curtis team will be announced in the next newsletter.
Interschool Sport – This term our students will be participating in the touch football interschool competition. This competition is a twilight competition and will take place on Thursday of week 4 (8/8/19). Games for this competition run from 3:30pm-7:30pm. If your child is interested in participating in this competition, please get them to write their name down on the sign on sheet at the HPE staffroom.
Yr 8 & 9 Dance – This term our yr 8 & 9 students are participating in a dance unit as part of the junior HPE curriculum. The yr 8 students will be doing line dances such as the Macarena, bus stop, nutbush, etc. as well as some bush dances including the ‘Heel & Toe Polka’ and the ‘Barnyards’. Our yr 9 students will be doing some partner dances including the ‘Cha Cha’ and the ‘Jive’. This is always a fun unit for the students and it is always fun to see our HPE staff practicing their dance moves in the staffroom.
Overall, we have another busy term coming up for the HPE department. Don’t forget to sign up for the touch football interschool competition and keep an eye out for student notices for more information regarding upcoming school sport.
