Cross Country ‘Fun Run’
Coming up on Monday 24th April (Monday week 2, Term 2) is the school Cross Country Fun Run. This event is held during second break and lesson 4 and is a great opportunity for our students to participate in our annual running event. Coinciding with the school cross country is the ‘Run4Fun’ fundraising drive. The purpose of this is for students to gain sponsorship/donations to run the cross country.

By raising money students are able to choose from a range of prizes. The more money raised the better the prize options available. Careport points will also be given to each house based on the amount of dollars raised by each individual student (one dollar will equal one careport point). The proceeds of this fundraiser then go towards the HPE department to buy jerseys and sports equipment for the students. All money raised for this event is due back to Mr Miller in the HPE staffroom by Friday 21st April.

Interschool Sport
This term we have had a number of teams participate in interschool sporting competitions with ranging degrees of success. Over the first couple of weeks of the term, Toolooa participated in the interschool cricket competition held at Clinton Park. The team put on a brave display against the other schools in the area but unfortunately couldn’t produce a win this year.

We also had three teams participate in the open years interschool volleyball competition. Our two boys teams played exceptionally well with one finishing 3rd and the other 1st in a six team competition! Our girls team also performed extremely well despite only having three teams in their division. The open girls finished up with bronze after winning one and drawing a game.

Over the remainder of the term we will have another four teams participating in interschool volleyball. These teams include a year 9/10 boys and girls team and two year 7/8 mixed teams. It has been excellent to see the number of students at our school who have shown a keen interest in interschool sport (particularly volleyball) this term. I wish the remaining teams the best of luck with their respective competitions.

Capricornia Sport Teams
Following on from my previous article that recognised the success of our students at Port Curtis trials this term, I now have the pleasure of recognising students who have succeeded in making Capricornia teams.

The following students have performed exceptionally well at Capricornia trials this term in order to make Capricornia teams:

The students listed above will travel to their respective State trials as a part of a Capricornia team. Good luck with your trials!
