P and C President's Prattle

  P and C
President’s Prattle
Hi. My name is Jenny Morris and I am very proud to be the President of the amazing Toolooa State High School Parents and Citizens Association. I have a strong connection with Toolooa State High School and the P and C as a parent of our son who finished Year 12 in 2016 and now our daughter who has just started in Year 7.
Many people shake their heads that as a busy person, I volunteer time to be a part of the P and C.
Why haven’t you learned to say no?” they ask. This is why:
  • I am passionate about my kid’s education and know that school’s operate best when they are supported by the parents and caregivers to help with planning and decision making;
  • I can’t complain about things that are happening in the school that I disagree with if I don’t become involved with the group that gives me a voice to put my opinion forward;
  • It is great to meet other parents and get to know each other;
The next thing people often ask is “When are meetings and how long do they go for?”
  • Meetings are once a month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (not held in school holidays);
  • Meetings are held in the Senior Schooling room in the Maths block up the stairs next to the tuckshop;
  • They start at 6pm and as President I am committed to them finishing by 7.30pm if possible but 8pm at the latest;
Then they say “What happens at meetings and what will I have to do?”
  • Lots of laughing and chatting happens;
  • The meeting is run to an agenda and minutes are kept;
  • Reports from various people including the Principal, the Treasurer, the Tuckshop and Uniform shop and the School Chaplain;
  • Items discussed are all related to things about our kid’s school and the direction they take. These include areas such as student leadership, uniform, tuckshop, school support issues, report cards, academic direction, funding and financial issues, school activities and providing opinions and contributions on various policies and procedures as needed;
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 14th June, we would welcome you to attend!
‘Till next time
