Interschool Sport
This has been a really successful term for interschool sport at Toolooa SHS. We have had three teams compete in Rugby League with two winning their divisions. The winners were our year 7/8 & year 11/12 teams coached by Nick Muir & Jason Althaus respectively. Whilst our year 9/10 boys’ team didn’t win their division the effort that they displayed throughout the competition was second to none. I’m sure they will come back bigger and stronger next year.

Netball was the other major sport that Toolooa SHS was involved in this term. It was excellent to see the significant number of teams that we were able to enter this year. Our school entered three year 7/8 teams as well as one in both the 9/10 and 11/12 divisions. Results definitely didn’t reflect the effort that the students put into their respective divisions with only one of our girls teams winning their competition. Our year 11/12 girls division coached by Libby Small and Stephanie Stedman were the successful team from our school who came out as the winners.

Mixed Netball was another popular interschool competition that our students were involved in this term. We entered two year 7/8 teams as well as a 9/10 & 11/12 team. As expected, the teams performed well with three out of the four teams playing in the grand finals. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side on the day with only one out of three teams winning their grand final. Congratulations to the year 7/8 girls team coached by Ann Marie Noovao who were the winners of their division!

Now I must say a big thank you to all our coaches this term. Term three is always busy so I appreciate them volunteering their own time to coach these teams.

Finally, in term four we still have one more interschool sport to go! 6-A-Side Soccer will be starting in week two next term on Tuesday afternoons. If you know someone who is interested make sure they grab a note from the PE department ASAP so they don’t miss out!

CAP Athletics
Earlier this term a number of students travelled to Emerald to compete at the Capricornia Athletics trials. Despite fierce competition Toolooa were able to get four students into the CAP athletics team. They were Bailey Smith, Ryan Neale, Chyanne Downing & Ethan Malone. Congratulations on a fantastic effort!
