NYSF Student – Maddison Campbell & Kynan Elliott
Last Tuesday night I had the pleasure of attending the National Youth Science Forum dinner at the Central Queensland University. What an outstanding evening! The local Rotary Clubs are the driving force for this program with only selected students across the Gladstone and Tannum area chosen to attend the event next year, with Maddison Campbell & Kynan Elliott from Toolooa State High School selected. Maddison & Kynan will join other students from across the country in Canberra for this once in a lifetime experience in January. We congratulate Maddison & Kynan on their selection and know that they will acquit themselves strongly in this program.
Arts Showcase
A special mention to all staff and students involved in the Arts Showcase on Friday night at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre. It truly was a fantastic night that showcased the many talents of our students. They were simply inspirational. I would like to pay particular attention to Ms Meghan Gwynne and her team of teachers who did an outstanding job supporting and getting the students ready for this spectacular performance. The school could not be prouder of how the evening went. To all involved; well done.
Awards Night
Tonight is our annual Awards Night! This night recognises and celebrates academic, citizenship, leadership and cultural successes of our Year 7 -12 students for 2018. Congratulations to all our students receiving awards. You do our school proud and add to our school’s legacy through your demonstrated commitment to our school values of Respect, Achievement and Responsibility.
I would also like to acknowledge our students who whilst they are not receiving awards, are also determined to do their best and make the most of everyday as they commit to improving and building successful pathways into their future.
World Teachers Day – Friday the 26th of October
Tomorrow in Queensland we celebrate World Teacher’s Day. This is a very special day when we thank our wonderful teachers for the job they do teaching and caring for our students. It is our amazing teachers that encourage our students to be the best they can, by providing an environment for students to ‘seek excellence and engage in opportunities’. To ensure students are engaged and improving, teaching staff spend many hours preparing well designed lessons and providing students with feedback to improve their knowledge and skills further. Our teaching staff also spend countless hours in providing opportunities for students to engage in extra-curricular activities as well as coaching and managing sporting teams.
Every day, Queensland teachers are making a difference educating and inspiring young people across our state. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to acknowledge our teachers and say thanks for the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities. At Toolooa, I am very lucky to have a fantastic and united teaching team all striving for one thing: to get the best outcomes for every student. I consider myself extremely privileged to work with such a dedicated team.
