Term 4 Start - School Resumes on Tuesday October 4
Term Review
What a busy but productive term. We again have students achieving great things at Toolooa State High School.
Academically we have seen:
  • our year 7, 8 and 9 students demonstrate outstanding improvement in our focus areas of Reading and Writing
  • our year 12 QCS students handle this important testing time confidently
  • strong subject results across the school

Our school attendance is almost 2% higher in term 3 this year than in 2015.

In relation to sport we have seen students achieving at a regional and state level for both school sport and community sporting endeavours.
Additionally our teaching staff have again demonstrated their excellence through supporting our students to excel.
We have seen strong parent support in a number of areas:
  • significant reduction on students being dropped off in the school grounds
  • stronger numbers of students in our expected uniform each day
It has been a busy but productive term and we are committed to continuing to improve on what is considered one of the best schools in the region.
Year 6 into 7 Information Evening
Last week we had about 200 people attend our term 3 Year 6 into 7 Information Evening. They had the opportunity to do a school tour, understand our approach for transition as well as being provided with specific information about how Toolooa State High School operates. This was without doubt the largest group we have seen at these events and we look forward to another strong contingent of year 7’s next year. I would like to recognise the work of our Head of Junior Secondary, Miss Jess Batey, and our Year 7 Coordinator, Mr Craig O’Connor for organising and running the event and thank our team of junior leaders for the leading the school tours.
Student reports will be posted home over the holidays or very early in the first week back. We encourage our parents and carers to discuss the report with their child. Attendance, Effort and Behaviour are critical to student success and we ask that these form the basis of the discussion. We recognise that Academic Results are important however the three factors above have enormous influence on these final results. If we can get the first three right generally students achieve their personal best.
Holiday safety
Our students and staff have worked this term and we hope they have a relaxing break. We do ask that if our families are on the road this holiday period they stay safe, have adequate rest breaks and observe the speed limits. We are very keen to have all of our students and staff back relaxed and recharged for term 4.
