Toolooa SHS’s Core Values: Respect, Achievement and Responsibility
At Toolooa SHS we are “Working Together” to be: Respectful, Responsible and Committed to Achievement. To help our student body better understand what our core values mean and look like, students have been reminded on weekly parades. I encourage all parents/carers to refer to page 4 of the Student Success Journal for a detailed breakdown of the school’s core values.
School Uniform – Colder Weather
On the whole, the majority of our student body are wearing the appropriate uniform. However, with the colder months arriving, we are seeing a number of inappropriate jumpers being worn. Can I remind all parents that the school jacket, the senior jersey or a plain black jumper are the only suitable options for our students in the cooler months.
The School Uniform Is Advocated By The School and the P&C Association For The Following Reasons:
    • It gives all students a sense of personal pride in their own appearance
    • Provided students change into other clothes after school, it should prove long-wearing and economical
    • It encourages identification with the school and promotes school spirit
    • Distractions caused variations of dress and grooming are avoided
    • Visitors to the school are easily identified

Every Day Counts
Currently, our year to date attendance percentage sits at 91%. This is slightly down compared to the same time last year. I would like to personally thank our parents/caregivers for their ongoing commitment to education and continually encouraging their child to attend every day. As per the information to follow, there is a very clear link between attendance and achievement. If you are having any difficulty in getting your child to school, please contact the year level coordinator to discuss possible strategies.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Instrumental Music students for their performances at FANFARE on Tuesday. As you can see from the following adjudication feedback, our students performances were of a high standard.
Concert Band—Overall award, Gold Certificate : The distinction award.
Symphonic Band— Overall award, Gold Certificate: The distinction award.
Stage Band— Overall award, Silver Certificate: The honourable award.
Strings Ensemble—Overall award, Bronze Award: The commendation award.
The ensembles were demonstrated a consistently excellent standard across the four criteria.
They should all be incredibly proud of their achievements; they have done themselves, their families, and their school proud. In addition, I would like to thank Mrs Carol Slape and Mandy Ruge for their hard work in getting our students to this level that they’ve displayed.
Please see more news about Fanfare on page 3 in our Good News Story.
A Big Thank You to our P&C
As you are aware P&Cs play a pivotal role in assisting a school to engage with its parents and the wider community. Parent engagement is essential to a school and its community existing in partnership to ensure successful student learning and well-being.
May 25th is P&C day. I encourage you to think about how you will thank the P&C this year for the work they do and the support they give to your school.
