Senior Schooling Information Evening
A Senior Schooling information evening for Year 10 & 9 students and their parents will be held on Thursday 14th June at 6:00PM in the Multi-purpose shelter at the school. This information session is strongly advised for all parents of Year 10 students to attend.

Information presented includes:

  • The new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
  • The new Senior Assessment and Tertiary Entrance (SATE) system
  • Senior pathways, subjects and courses for 2019.

Assessment
Our students are entering into the term 2 assessment period. We recognise that this can be a busy time for our students. We encourage them to speak to their teachers about areas needing improvement along with developing a timetable of when their assessment is on and discussing it with their parents or carers.

Time Management
We are finding more and more of our students identify time management as a key concern. Finding the balance between keeping up with their studies, holding down a part-time job, staying connected with friends and family, and so on is getting increasingly difficult for some students. We encourage our parents to sit down with their children and discuss this issue.

Uniform Reminder
Our school jacket or a plain black jumper are the only jumper options at Toolooa High except for our year 12 students, who may also wear their senior jersey. Jeans, jeggings and tights are not part of our uniform and are not accepted at Toolooa State High School. Plain black tracksuit pants, or full length black dress pants/slacks/trousers are acceptable options. Tracksuit pants are available from the front office. Please see page 9 for more uniform requirements & school track pant options.

Stymie
Quick reminder regarding our anonymous incident reporting system Stymie. We encourage our students to access this process if they have experienced or see an incident that they feel warrants reporting.

Road Safety
The safety of our students is our paramount concern and it’s quite concerning when we get reports from our community about students that are riding their scooters, bikes or skateboards in unsafe ways on their way to and from school. We would appreciate the support of our parents to discuss this with their children. We have reports of student going straight through intersections and roundabouts as well as crossing roads without looking or stopping for oncoming traffic. The last thing that I want myself or my staff to have to do is ring a parent regarding a serious traffic incident due to this unsafe behaviour or monitor a student with serious injuries from a collision with a vehicle.

Congratulations Instrumental Music Symphonic Band
Fanfare — Congratulations to the instrumental music symphonic band, who have been selected into the Fanfare regional finals on Monday the 11th of June. We wish these students all the best in this state wide competition.
