Safe Holidays
With this being the final newsletter to be issued before the holidays, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Toolooa community a safe and relaxing holiday. For those travelling on the roads, please be careful as we want all students to return safely on Monday 16 July.
Permanent Principal Appointment
The appointment of Toolooa’s permanent Principal position will be made in the next few days. The Toolooa community will be notified via facebook once the appointment is released.
Successful QCE/SATE Information Night
A big thanks must go to the parents and students of our Year 10 cohort who attended the new QCE/SATE information evening last Thursday. A special mention must go to Mr Mark Thomas and Mrs Silke Hetherington for their informative presentations which, fully equipped our parents and students with the necessary information regarding the new system so informed decisions can be made. As mentioned on the night, it is critical that our students are on the right pathway from day one when they enter Year 11. For those parents who could not attend and would like further information, it is imperative that you attend the Year 10 – 11 Subject Selection Evening on the 25 July in the shelter.
Year 10 into 11 Subject Selection Evening
On Wednesday the 25 July, Toolooa will be holding its annual Year 10 into 11 Subject Selection Evening in the shelter starting at 6pm. I cannot stress how important it is for all parents and Year 10 students to attend as vital information regarding subject offerings, lines that subjects will be on and the expectations of our students when it comes to selections will be addressed. More importantly, the night will provide all students and parents with an opportunity to ask the Heads of Department any questions regarding the subjects they oversee. Official invites regarding the night will be sent home in the near future.
Report cards are integral in the teaching and learning cycle. Not only do they provide our students with up to date information on how they are going, but they also provide parents with an opportunity to receive accurate feedback on how their child is progressing over the course of the semester. All year level reports will be posted home over the holidays. If you have had a change of address recently, please contact the school so we can update your details so report cards are sent to the correct address.
Athletics Carnival
Toolooa’s annual Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 29 June. The day is an important event in our calendar as it not only allows students to excel outside of the classroom in their chosen athletic event/s, but it is a day whereby students can participate in an array of events that they normally would not, socialise with their friends and contribute to their careport points.  Please remind your child that they need to be sun safe on the day by bringing a hat and water bottle and wearing appropriate clothing. Sunscreen will be provided on the day. Good luck to all careports.
Good News Stories
Before you stop reading, make sure you turn to pages two and three which highlight a number of good news stories involving Toolooa students that have occurred recently. As I mention all the time, I am very proud of the achievements of our students and wold like to thank the staff for their support and contribution to the students of Toolooa. If it was not for the time and effort teachers put in, students would not have the opportunities to engage and excel in academic, cultural and sporting fields.
