Award’s Night
Congratulations to all those involved in Toolooa’s Awards Night. It was a fantastic night that demonstrated the ongoing commitment of our students to our three core values; Respect, Achievement and Responsibility. A special mention must go to our senior and junior leaders for doing such a great job hosting the evening, Ambrose Coolwell and the indigenous dancers for two engaging and culturally significant dances, Carol Slape and the outstanding performances of her band, the teaching and non-teaching staff who attended and help celebrate our student achievements with the wider community, Mitchell Carter and Jasmyn Dew (2016 academic champions) for their personal reflections, honesty and words of wisdom, Caitlin Bignell for her top class rendition of the National Anthem (both verses), year level co-ordinators and Deputies who help present on stage and our backstage crew who helped the show run like clockwork. Finally, I would like to congratulate all award winners, thank the organising committee and their support team for organising once again another successful awards night and our sponsors and industry partners for their ongoing commitment to this great school. Like I said on the night, I am very proud of being acting Principal of such a great school, a school that works very hard, all united in the pursuit of excellence. Please see pages 2 to 4 for all the award recipients.
School Leaders for 2018
This year, Toolooa has had an excellent pool of applicants for 2018 leadership positions in our school.  In order to attain a position as school captain or vice-captain, all applicants were required to write and present a speech, as well as have a meeting with members of the school’s administration team. Following this, all students and staff voted for their preferred leaders. I would like to congratulate our School Captains and Vice Captains for 2018.

Year 12 Gift
I would just like to acknowledge and personally thank the senior student leadership team who have spent their fundraising money on a cementing project that benefits our students and the school. Please see page 6 for all the information in regards to this great project.
Last Week for Year 12
Twelve years of hard work and persistence are paying off for our graduating class of 2017.  This really is an important milestone and we look forward to sharing this event with our students.  We encourage our parents/carers to support them to keep on track over this final week. It is essential that the high expectations built within this group continue right to the last day so that they can finish strong.
Sports Awards
Coming up on Wednesday next week is our annual Sports Awards Evening. This night is to celebrate the successes of our students on the sporting field from throughout the year. This event is held at the Yaralla Sports Club function room and doors open at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start. If you have received an invitation for this night and wish to attend please purchase your ticket from the front office before they all run out.
As we reach the end of the year, parents are reminded that children must attend school every day unless they have a reasonable excuse for being away. Visiting family, being tired, starting holidays early are not good reasons to be away from school.
