During National Volunteer Week, We Celebrated a Very Important Day On Friday 24th May -“P&C Day”.
Toolooa State High School has a history of a strong and active Parents and Citizens Association who support our school in many ways – financial, policy and procedure wise and positive promotion and advocacy to name but a few. Our current membership and team are upholding this tradition with gusto.

I would like to take the time and opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate and thank the passionate and dedicated group of parents, community members and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make our school a better place for all students. Toolooa is most certainly a stronger community as a result of your commitment.

Please consider supporting your child’s educational outcomes by joining the P&C. Meetings are succinct and relaxed and held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 6pm at the Senior Schooling room in the Maths block.

Thanks P&C
In addition to P&C Day, a big thank you must go to our hardworking P&C for their generous contribution to our school with the purchase of the LED sign at the front of the school. Our P&C donated $40,000 towards its purchase.

This large amount of money comes from the tremendous work each and every P&C member contributes towards our school. Also, a big thank you to our tuckshop workers who play a huge role in the profit making of our P&C – thank you to our ladies and Nathan.

Every Day Counts
Currently, our year to date attendance percentage sits at 89.2%. This is unfortunately down compared to the same time last year. To those parents/carers who continually support and commit to their child attending every day, I would like to personally thank you. As per the research, there is a very clear link between attendance and achievement. If you are having any difficulty in getting your child to school, please contact the year level coordinator to discuss possible strategies. For more strategies please see page 2 of this newsletter.

Smith Family Fundraiser
On the last day of fundraising, the Toolooa community have managed to reach $3216.30 to support The Smith Family. Thank you to all teachers, staff, students and families who have organised and donated to this great cause. A magnificent contribution in such a short space of time. Well done. Please see more on this great fundraising event on page 3.

In 87% of cases of bullying and harm, there are bystanders present. While some students may feel comfortable talking to teachers and parents/carers about what they’ve witnessed, we understand many don’t.

We are very fortunate to have the amazing online tool of Stymie at Toolooa and we’re proud that so many students have used this website to help us, help students at Toolooa.

Stymie allows students to keep our school safe by reporting things and remaining completely anonymous. Speaking up may give others the courage to overcome the fears and social pressures that prevent them from speaking up.
