Relay For Life 2015

Relay For Life 2015
Saturday 25th July saw a fantastic group of Toolooa students arrive at Chanel oval ready to take part in the Gladstone Relay for Life.
Having spent the last 8 weeks fundraising the students were ready to put their bodies on the line and walk for 18 hours. Christmas in July was the theme and we had some great costumes which made the event even more enjoyable.
The candlelight ceremony again this year was a very moving event with all involved taking the time to reflect – remembering those we have lost, celebrating those who have survived and holding onto hope that one day a cure will be found.
Toolooa was honoured to have Tim Olsen’s (past Toolooa student) dad place his remembrance bag at our tent after the service – another reminder that cancer does not discriminate – young, old, rich or poor everyone seems to be touched in some way by cancer.
A special mention must be given to all involved for your commitment, and behaviour at the event – we had very positive feedback from other teams as to how great you were.
Additionally enormous thanks to Mrs Patzwald who again this year gave up her Saturday afternoon/night and Sunday morning to assist with student supervision.
Thank you Garry Larsen who officiated the raffle draw and to all who supported the Toolooa Toblerone raffle – Tim B a ‘relayer’ on the night was the lucky winner of the 4.5kg chocolate. It was great to see he opened it early hours of Sunday morning and shared it with other walkers.
Toolooa have done yourself proud with a total of $3450 being donated to you the Cancer Council this year!!
WELL DONE to all involved.
