Hello All,

Year 10 Early Childhood Studies Class had hands on experience when they undertook the challenge of a Toolooa Playgroup Afternoon earlier this month. We had approximately 40 mums and bubs ranging in age from 3 months to eight years. Our visiting children came from a variety of countries, had different disabilities and social skills. It is very important for our girls who are undertaking Early Childhood Studies, to experience the diversity that any learning environment has; and, be able to interact with youngsters in an inclusive, supportive and fun way.

Planning for this activity was taken on by all with great enthusiasm. There was bubble blowing, dancing, face painting, arts and crafts as well as a healthy snack time. It was interesting to observe how the students interacted with the youngsters – with trepidation at first to not wanting them to go home. The littlies all so didn’t want to leave and there were a few tears that were washed away with a balloon to take home.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Mums who brought their children to the afternoon function, the Library Ladies who allowed us to use the annex and outside area and the little children who engaged in all the activities; but most of all I would like to thank my class of 30 girls who worked tirelessly in preparing for the playgroup.

Well done ladies.
