Re: School Read-A-Thon

Toolooa State High School will be holding a School Read-A-Thon from 24th August to the 30th August.

The School Read-A-Thon is a stimulating, fun and literacy based fundraiser that ensures we send the right message to our students about developing literacy skills and creating a healthy mind. The main focus of this event is on participation. Family support is most appreciated as we encourage all students to get involved.

To participate, we are asking students read 30 minutes a day, five days a week, over a week (24th August to the 30th August). This is completed in personal time, so we suggest parents get heavily involved with the School Read-A-Thon. You can do this by helping your kids choose a reading list, and ensuring they are fulfilling the requirements of reading for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

Some students have received a Sponsorship Form to help collect sponsorship on behalf of the school. The funds raised will be used to purchase: levelled reading books for years 7-9.

If your child has chosen to participate in the fundraising, we ask parents to read the Sponsorship Form and sign the front page to grant permission for their child to fundraise and participate in this event.  In the Sponsorship Form you will find all the tools you need for successful fundraising, and more!

Students who raise at least $10 will receive a reward for effort. We have educated students on the dangers of door knocking without adult supervision, please reiterate this at home. The best people to ask for sponsorship are people you know (e.g. friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours).

Once fundraising is complete please help your child fill out Step 6 – How to Claim Prizes, on the back page of the Sponsorship Form. Then tear it off and return it with all money raised to the library on or before 31st August; student prizes will arrive shortly after.

Thank you for your support in advance!
