Year 12s
This is the final term for our Year 12s, and it is a very busy term with lots on. It is important that our Year 12s continue their hard work right up until their final assessment piece is completed!
CQ University Experience
On Wednesday 16th October, I had the pleasure of accompanying seven of our students to the Gladstone CQU Marina Campus for their University Experience Day. Students listened to a variety of presentations about CQU and studying as well as participating in subject-specific workshops on health, engineering, business and education.
What did students enjoy?
Daisy Sawyer: "I enjoyed learning about the university and how it doesn't matter if you wish to change to a different campus within Australia."
Shanai Ingra: "CQU outlined courses I could study, and we did some fun activities. I made new friends as well."
Nathan Capuano: "CQU specified courses that were provided in our field. I enjoyed seeing old friends and making new friends during the program sessions."
Sarah Lumsden: "I enjoyed learning about what CQU Gladstone has to offer for current Year 12 students. It was great to see friends from primary school and meet new people."
Year 11 QCS Practice Test
All of our students sitting the QCS Test in Year 12 participated in practice tests on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th October. These tests will be professionally marked and feedback provided on students' strengths and areas to improve. All students made impressive efforts during their tests - well done!
Work Experience
The last opportunity for work experience for our Year 10 and Year 11 students is 30th November to 4th December or 7th December to 11th December. Students can collect work experience forms from the Senior Room. Applications are due back by 22nd October. A cost of $40 applies.
CQU in 2016
The CQU VET in Schools course booklet is available from the Senior Room. This booklet details what courses are available to school students through CQU. Attending a CQU course involves being on campus at CQU one day a week. Some courses are government-funded and some courses are full-fee. Students need to be in Year 11 or Year 12 for most courses, and must be passing both English and Maths subjects. See Ms Jounquay for more information.
