Swimming Carnival

1/03/2018

Swimming Carnival

On the 15th February our school held its annual swimming carnival. Despite the soaring temperatures attendance and participation was excellent.

The day commenced with a school parade on the hard courts in which all students were keen to express their overwhelming support for their Careports. It was fantastic to see a significant number of students dressed up in their respective house colours as well.

The day of events ran reasonably smoothly with excellent participation from all age groups and this led to a high scoring carnival through participation points.

Every year we have students that excel in the pool, for example last year we had Clara Furness break three records. This trend has continued again with Clara breaking yet another record and Jesse Hayden breaking four!

Unfortunately at the end of the day we were pushed for time due to the high participation numbers in the heats which meant that we were unable to announce our Age Champions. These students have all been presented their medals in year level parades instead. The following students were recognised as our Age Champions for 2018 due to the outstanding effort in the pool.

Congratulations to all of our ‘Age Champions’ for 2018. Overall, the day was a great success which could be seen through the strong participation numbers and enjoyment throughout the day.

Congratulations to those students who got involved. A big thank you must go out to the teachers involved and the PE department for organising the day.

Term One PC Sportserm One PC Sports
This term we have had a number of students’ trialling for Port Curtis teams in their chosen sporting fields. Congratulations to the following students who have been successful in making these teams.

The next upcoming sports event will be the school cross country which will be held on Tuesday 24th April which is week two of term two. The event will begin at the start of second break and go through until 3pm. I look forward to seeing excellent participation and team spirit again for this event.

With over half the term gone, we now only have three port Curtis trials left for students to attend. They are:

    • 13-19 Years Port Curtis Hockey (Boys & Girls)
    • 13-16 Years Port Curtis Football for Boys
    • 13-15 Years Port Curtis Football for Girls

If your son/daughter is interested in trialling for either of the remaining trials please get them to see the PE staff to collect a form.

For those that have already made a Port Curtis team, best of luck with your upcoming Capricornia/State trials!
