On Tuesday, 26th of May, 5 Toolooa State High School students were lucky enough to attend a workshop for students interested in the field of control systems hosted by QMEA and CQUniversity. Along with groups from Tannum Sands SHS, Gladstone SHS and Chanel College, students were required to work in pairs to program a driver circuit to regulate a water tank to fill and release water.
With the support of CQUniversity lecturers and industry representative, students were able to program a circuit that would respond to sensors in a water tank indicating the water level. From this data, they were then able to provide an output from the circuit that would control the pumps and valves in the water tank.
A big thank you must go out to the staff at CQUniversity who hosted and ran the event, as well as QMEA for coordinating the event. The students learnt a great deal throughout the day about some of the real world applications of circuit programming and enjoyed the experience immensely.
