From The Deputy
With Jess Batey
As the term draws to a close, I’d like to – once again – sincerely thank the Toolooa community for their support. It has been one of the most challenging times for us all, but the way that the students, staff, parents and community have worked together has truly been something to admire and remember.
We generally start our Year 6 into 7 transition during term three of each year. Although we’ll have to get a little creative, our transition phase will be starting after the holidays. If you have a Year 6 student transitioning into TSHS for Year 7 in 2021, please keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates in relation to information sessions and digital content. We will need to make some changes to the way we run our information sessions so that we align with COVID-19 restrictions, so we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Period Five sessions will continue to run each Friday after the holidays. Students who are staying behind for independent study need to have a consent form completed and returned. These forms are available from Tracey in the office. During the Period Five sessions, our teaching staff continue to develop the highest quality curriculum, including units, assessment tasks, differentiation and resources, in order to provide the best education for our Toolooa students. Although Period Five traffic was unpleasant for the first few weeks after returning from remote learning, things seem to be moving a lot more smoothly in the last few weeks, with traffic clearing within 10 – 12 minutes. We thank our community for being safe and patient during pick-up time, and encourage families to consider alternatives to the normal pick-up area where safe and possible.
I wish all our staff and students a safe, relaxing and rejuvenating break. I hope that everyone has the chance to ‘recharge the batteries’ before we commence the second semester.
