We are now past the half-way point of the term, and things are busier than ever for staff and students!
We have a number of students in the combined schools musical, The Wizard of Oz, starring alongside Mr Dalzell’s famous dog, Pinot, who is playing the role of Toto in the play. Many of our students will be going to see a matinee performance of the musical, and others will go along with their families to enjoy the show. We congratulate all the students who are in the musical; we know that it has taken months of dedication, and we’re excited to check it out!
Our swimming carnival is next Thursday (18th March). Your child should have brought a note home to get consent to swim on the day. Please ensure your child returns it to the school ASAP. I’m looking forward to seeing our new Careport Captains in action, and seeing if anyone can defeat the mighty Elliott dolphins (I doubt it)!
There’s plenty happening in the world of STEM at Toolooa, with two students being accepted into STEM Horizons, as well as a group of students being invited to a STEM camp at Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre later this term. Additionally, our STEM Squad is now in full swing, and have been starting to engage with the drones and robots already.
Our Junior Secondary Leadership team has now been finalised, with approximately 50 students in the team. Students have now been split into action groups, and will start work shortly. I’m excited to see the positive impact that they’ll have on our school this year.
Our period five sessions are still going along beautifully. Last week, our teachers engaged in preparation for term two units and assessment tasks. This week, they’re being submitted for quality assurance and feedback to ensure that they’re ready to be rolled-out after the holidays. It was also pleasing to note that the congestion at the front of the school has minimised in the past few weeks, with parents moving forward and making use of the carparks adjacent to the hardcourts. Thanks again for your patience and consideration of other drivers.
