As always, there’s lots happening here at Toolooa SHS and we are so proud of our students! This fortnight, we’ve seen a group of Year 7 students attend the Gladstone Future Leaders Eco Challenge (FLEC), which was a great success; the student learned lots and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We’ve also had a group of Year 7 – 9 students work with robotics expert, Dr Damien Kee, on developing their STEM skills with EV3 robots. Thanks to Mr Capill and QMEA for making these opportunities happen for our students. In addition to these awesome events, our students have been working hard inside and outside the classroom, with assessment mode in full-swing and all our extra-curricular activities back in action.
During Period 5 sessions over the past two weeks, teachers have been busy preparing quality units and assessment tasks for term two. Once this is all complete, teachers will be working on moderation, ensuring that they are applying a consistent standard to students’ work. I’m pleased to report that the behaviour of students staying back for Period 5 has been great.
Students have been making use of the time appropriately, which is fabulous to see. A reminder that you will need to ‘sign-up’ your student for Period 5 again in term two if you wish for them to stay behind again.
