From The Deputy
With Jess Batey

Only a couple of weeks left of semester two!  I’d like to commend our students for the way that they have transitioned back into the face-to-face learning environment over the past few weeks. It has been a challenging time for students, parents and staff, but our community has done a fantastic job of adapting. Whilst trying to keep things as ‘normal’ as possible, we have had to make some changes to the way we run the school, in order to keep our students and staff safe. Students are still required to sanitise their hands on the way in and out of each class. Additionally, some of our lunchtime activities have been modified or cancelled, but students can currently safely play handball or shelter games, participate in ‘Just Dance’, Beyblades, Lego building or board games. While the school oval remains shut for health reasons, we strongly encourage students to take advantage of the aforementioned activities to keep busy during breaks. Another significant change in our school is the format of our parades. To ensure we’re not ‘gathering’ in large groups, we have moved to host ‘virtual parades’ via Microsoft Teams, in which our administration team addresses cohorts of students, does prize draws, and keeps everyone up-to-date.

Our term 2 assessment calendars can be found on our website (also linked from our Facebook page). With the disruptions to learning this term, some teachers/HoD’s have made changes to assessment dates to allow students additional time to complete tasks. Please liaise with your child to ensure they are on-track to complete their tasks by the due date. Importantly, students should speak with their teachers if they are behind in the work, and determine an appropriate solution. Report cards will be sent home a little later to accommodate the later assessment schedule. Parent/teacher interviews will follow the report cards – please keep an eye out for details about booking an interview in.
