Rising All-Stars

Over the last six weeks, two teams of students from our STEM Squad have been preparing for the annual First LEGO League (FLL) competition. They programmed robots to navigate and complete a number of LEGO challenges including going under objects, over obstacles and even dancing! Additionally, each team developed a proposal to solve a given problem: “How and where can we help people become more active?”

On Saturday 31st October, they competed in the challenge hosted at CQUni. The students did a fantastic job and represented the school beautifully. Congratulations to all involved. Thanks to Mr Clarke and Mrs Wyatt for volunteering their time to support the students.

A special congratulations to the girls team who took out the Rising All-star Award.

Kits for Kids
Do you have any used or unused school supplies that you could donate to a student in need?

‘Kits for Kids’ is an initiative created and led by Toolooa State High School’s Fundraising and Charity Junior Leadership Group to help students in need. During weeks 6 and 7 of this school term (9th- 23rd November), we are asking members of our school community to donate any second-hand school bags, stationary and school-related items.

A collection box can be found in the hallway of N-Block (Humanities/Year 7). Our student leaders will sort and clean all items before packaging them and donating them to our local The Smith Family office. We are seeking lunch boxes, pencil cases, pens and pencils, erasers, rulers, colouring pencils, and other essential supplies.

Last year, we managed to collect 13x fully equipped school bags! Can we beat that this year?

Additionally:

Thank you to everyone who has donated bottle caps over the last 6 months! We received an over whelming amount of donations and have been blown away by everyone’s efforts. Thank you. We have been able to use the bottle caps for a number of recycled art projects and will be donating left over’s to local charities and play centres. Please note: we are NO LONGER COLLECTING BOTTLE CAPS.

Thank you for your help!
