Gold Award Presentations
Each term, Toolooa recognises students who have strived to achieve outstanding academic results in each of their subjects they are studying. On Monday the 8th of March and Wednesday the 10th of March, Toolooa State High School held recognition parades to celebrate the academic success of our students for Term Four of 2020.
To all gold award winners, congratulations on a very successful term four. We are looking forward to seeing you maintain these great results and recognise others who strive to achieve at a consistently high standard. Please see page 2 of this newsletter for photos of the award recipients.
Term 1 Reporting:
At the end of term 1, parents will communicate, via an interim report card, the achievement, effort, and behaviour of students. There are no comments accompanying this report card and parents are encouraged to attend a parent/teacher/student information evening in term 2 in order to discuss their child's progress.
Interim report cards for students in years 11 and 12 will be mailed home during the last week of this term. For the rest of the school, reports are mailed home at the end of week 1, term 2.
Achievement is rated on an A-E scale; effort and behaviour are rated from 'excellent' to 'unacceptable'.
Again, we encourage parents to make an appointment to discuss interim reports with teachers using the SOBS booking system (information about this process, as well as dates/times for interviews, will accompany report cards).
National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence
Tomorrow, Toolooa SHS will be celebrating the 11th National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (NDA). The celebration and activities organised will allow students the opportunity to take part and empower them to find solutions to help prevent bullying. On Friday evening, landmark buildings around Queensland including the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach, Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, Brisbane’s Story Bridge and Suncorp Stadium, and Munro Martin Parklands in Cairns will light up in orange in a show of solidarity with students, staff and school communities. Harmony Week
This week is also Harmony Week (15–21 March), which gives us the chance to celebrate our cultural diversity. Celebrating difference and leveraging the diverse knowledge, skills and experience of our workforce enables us to deliver relevant and responsive services for our students. At Toolooa, we are committed to creating harmonious and inclusive workplaces and schools where staff of all cultural backgrounds can thrive.
