This term year 8 students had to design, create and evaluate a frame that could hold a standard size photo. The photo also had to be able to be assembled and disabled as a jigsaw puzzle. Students explored different theme and gift ideas, while also researching materials required to complete the task. The combination of different annotated sketches and the creation of a production flowchart finally provided the students the opportunity to access hands on tools such as the mitre saw, disc sander and scroll saw to produce their final design.
Students thoroughly enjoyed this unit as it gave them the freedom to choose their own designs, and to also learn about different tools and machines.
