Creative Writing in Year 8
This term in Literacy, Year 8s have been working on creative writing. In Ms Dwyer's 8G, the boys have been using an online shared story writing platform called Frankenstories. For some reluctant writers, this felt like an overwhelming task at the beginning but three weeks in and students are requesting to write a story every lesson, and their hard work is paying off. It started as a few words and now students are writing detailed description and sentences. Well done 8G!
Year 12 General English
Our Year 12s sat their first external exam on Monday 20th October for General English. Students completed a two-hour exam with fifteen minutes planning time, and were required to write an analytical essay for an unseen question about Shakespeare's Macbeth in this time.
The 2023 unseen questions (for those familiar with Shakespeare's Macbeth) were:
What point of view about loyalty is communicated in Macbeth?
How is the audience invited to view Lady Macbeth’s character in the play?
Students did a great job preparing, and Ms Jounquay and Miss Halloran are super proud of their efforts. Well done Year 12s!
