From The Deputy
With Jess Batey
I’m always very proud to be part of the Toolooa community, but the past couple of weeks have been extra special. We’ve seen our school engage in Reconciliation Week, in which staff and students shared their cultural background and what the word ‘reconciliation’ means to them. Our Indigenous Support Team – Ambrose, Bree, Michelle and Krysta – created some great, inclusive activities for our staff and students to engage in.
Well done to all involved!
In addition, I was so pleased to hear about our STEM Squad students participating in the CQ Robotics Challenge, and hearing that some of our teams were recognised with awards (The Spirit Award and the Advanced Team Winners)! Our STEM Squad is such a committed extra-curricular group and it’s so pleasing to see the rewards of their hard work. I’d also like to recognise Mr Capill and Miss Penno, who facilitate the group and give up their time every week for events such as this one.
And, finally, I’d like to publically thank Mrs Golding, one of our lovely parents, who spent all day baking for our staff last Friday to provide us with a much-appreciated afternoon tea. Working in a school is busy and can be hard work, so it was such a lovely treat for us all to finish the week on a high note.
Thank you, Mrs Golding, for the lovely gesture!
