This year, we are offering a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject to our year 8 students called Engineering Principles and Systems. We are one of very few schools in Queensland to offer this exciting new opportunity to students.
In their first unit of work, they are looking into the use of drones as an emerging technology. Specifically they are investigating how drones are used in local industrial contexts. They will then develop a proposal for how drones can be used to enhance operations in the future. Their proposal will include a simulation of the operation using micro-drones here at school.
This week, the class meet with representatives of Rio Tinto as part of their research. Thank you to Desni, Gaven and Daniel for their time and expertise.
