Outstanding STEM Teacher Award
Last week, I had the privilege of ‘virtually’ attending the Peter Doherty STEM Awards Ceremony, which showcase the amazing talent in the area of STEM across Queensland schools. In this ceremony, I was amazed by the students and staff across our state making huge progress in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Most exciting, of course, was our very own Mr Dave Capill being presented with one of only 5 Outstanding STEM Teacher Awards for his impressive work with our junior secondary students in Toolooa’s STEM Squad! Our school’s STEM Squad was founded in 2019 by Mrs Shonhan. Mr Capill took over the extra-curricular group, and has led them to engage in a vast range of programs, competitions and initiatives.
Further, Mr Capill has also been instrumental in engaging other local schools in STEM, by creating the GPC STEM Challenge, and the QMEA Drone Challenge. This award is so well-deserved. Congratulations, Mr Capill!
