On Thursday, 23rd March, STEM Squad students were invited to take part in an excursion to STEM Central at CQ University (Gladstone Marina). STEM Central is a purpose-built facility for students to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics exploration and learning. During the excursion, CQU lead our students through a number of rotational activities in which they will engage with different technology (such as VR headsets, drones and robotics) and inquiry-based problem-solving tasks.
As part of this students also got to tour CQUniversity Australia's Coastal Marine Ecosystems Research Centre (CMERC). This Facility has been established to work with coastal industries and communities to develop practical and sustainable solutions for our unique coast and marine environments. Headquartered on the shoreline of the Gladstone marina, CMERC is the only coastal and marine research facility based in Central Queensland and features world-class research equipment and laboratories with access to cutting-edge analytical capabilities.
