First LEGO league Tournament
Congratulations to our two STEM Squad teams who competed at the First LEGO League Tournament over the weekend. 18 students in years 7-9 showcased their STEM skills as they programmed robots to complete challenges and pitched their solutions to a real-life problem to a panel of judges. Thank you to Miss Penno and Mrs Wyatt for volunteering for the event. Both teams did a fantastic job and we are so proud of their efforts! Congratulations to Hayah, Tiah, Maddyson, Tobi, Sarah, Sophie, Emily, Jie Xi and Shryanshri who were awarded the “Core Values” trophy and earned an invite to the next stage of competition. Well done to all involved.
Year 7 Science
Our year 7 students are learning about force and friction in Science this term. They have learned about sliding friction, rolling friction and fluid friction. They have investigated the effects of friction on moving objects in a number of hands-on experiments. Last week, they built balloon rockets and made observations about the friction that occurs between different craft materials. This week, they measure the amount of force needed to put objects across different surfaces when weight is applied. Well done year 7!
