Port Curtis Sport
Welcome to 2023, and another big year of sport upon us. As always, Term 1 is very busy with Port Curtis sporting trials already beginning to occur this week. Check out the below calendar of upcoming trials for Term 1!
If your child is interested in trialling for Port Curtis this year, please encourage them to collect the information sheet from the PE staffroom.
This year, we are trialling a new process around consent forms which will streamline the processes from school to state levels. The new Representative School Sport Permission Details Booklet (Consent Form) has all required documentation that schools/districts/regions require for your child to participate. To minimise the duplication that formerly existed, Toolooa are now asking you to electronically complete the form online once only per sport/trial. You can access the Permission booklet here
https://capsport.eq.edu.au/support-and-resources/forms-and-documents.
As a result of a review into the financial undertaking of Port Curtis Sport, the committee have decided to make significant change which will support families in 2023 and possibly beyond. Unlike past years, students will no longer need to pay for transport to Capricornia trials. If students wish to purchase the non-compulsory apparel then these costs and the $13 Capricornia Sport fee are the only costs students will need to pay online for them to attend.
Dates to Remember!
With a new school year, comes new important dates! Our carnivals this year are as follows;
Swimming Carnival – Term 1, Week 5 – Wednesday 22nd February
Cross Country – Term 1, Week 10 – Thursday 30th March
Athletics Carnival – Term 2, Week 10 – Tuesday 20th June
Be sure to write these dates down so that you don’t forget!
Swimming Carnival
Our annual Swimming Carnival is coming up on Wednesday, 22nd February (Term 1 – Week 5). All students have now been given a medical permission form in their form classes. If your child is wishing to participate/compete in any of the events, it is a requirement that this form is signed by a parent/carer/guardian and returned to the HPE staffroom by Wednesday, 15th February. If your child requires another form, please encourage them to collect one from the HPE staffroom. Please note, that without the returned form, students will not be allowed to swim.
Students are also encouraged to come dressed in their Careport colours ensuring that the clothing is both sun-safe and appropriate. All students will travel to the pool via bus at 9:00am and return to school via bus by 2:45pm.
I look forward to another busy sporting year!
Yours in Sport,
Megan McCall
