Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
29th August to 2nd September 2022
Each year I am amazed at the quality of support that our Inclusion Assistants offer students and teachers. At Toolooa we call Teacher Aides that support students in classrooms Inclusion Assistants. The reason they are called Inclusion Assistants is because they assist students to be included in classroom activities and access the curriculum. They are there for our kids. Our Inclusion Assistants help students rise to the challenges they face and overcome adversity. We have some of the best practices to support students and our Inclusion Assistants improve learning outcomes everyday. Inclusion Assistants intensively teach reading, help kids write, work in groups and are flexible with a variety of demands of a complex job. Sometimes, they are called upon to calm students down, feed them a meal or just be a listening ear. It’s not an easy gig and we don’t say thankyou enough. But today, I write on behalf of the combined teaching, non-teaching, student and parent community and say THANKYOU!
