What’s Happening In Our Team?
We have had some really big changes in our team this year.
We welcome Shannae Saltner as an Indigenous Youth Worker, Gloria Wagner has moved from Toolooa House into our team to support our students in classes, and Tracy is our CEC. Mrs Georgie Schluter is as our new Deputy.

There have been big changes on how we represent and support our students this year. We have approximately 170 Indigenous students, and only 3 of us, so we have shared our workload within other teams around the school, mostly with classroom support.

  • We recently celebrated our annual Meet and Greet at Barney Point. Thank you to all the families that were able to make it. Our meet and greet, gives our families a chance to chat to staff and teachers outside of a school environment.
  • National Apology Day – Monday 13 Feb 2023, Celebrates 15 years, since the Apology from Kevin Rudd.

National Apology Day allows us to pay our respects to the Stolen Generation, not only those that survived, but also, those that have passed.

The impact of trauma, loss of community, identity, and culture to all those a part of the Stolen Generations can still be felt in our Community today. If you, or anyone that you know is affected by this, you can call the following for help.

Programs
Currently our Balas are enjoying the Deadly Choices Program. They are participating in DC Fit, a group fitness and exercise program designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, to exercise in a culturally-safe and supportive environment, while participating in Fun Indigenous Training (FIT).

Next term our Tiddas will participate in Tukka Time.

Fairplay Vouchers
If your child is eligible, parents, carers or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $150 for their child, which can be used towards sport and active recreation membership, registration or participation fees with registered activity providers (Opens in new window).

There is a limit of 1 voucher per child per calendar year.

If you would like to learn more about Fairplay vouchers or to see if you qualify, please speak to our team and we can help.

Applications close on the 29th of March 2023.
