Lunch On The Lawn: Celebrating Cultures
Toolooa SHS enjoyed Lunch on the Lawn again this year on Thursday 25th August from 1.10pm until 3pm. The Senior Leaders decided they wanted to recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity of our school for this year's event, and worked tirelessly to make Lunch on the Lawn happen.
There were rounds of otedama (an Asian bean bag game), with some very fierce competition for the prizes of $20 tuckshop vouchers, as well as a Humanities faculty vs Science faculty trivia competition (Humanities were victorious). The PE staff and the Arts staff also "rap battled", with PE being crowned the winners (for this year at least...).
Students and staff also enjoyed dance performances by Pacific Pikininis, a local Indigenous dance troupe. Some of our students and Ambrose, our Community Education Counsellor, also were part of the performance.
Catering was provided by Integreat Queensland with delicious meals such as a Cambodian/Indian curry, Filipino dishes and hot beef rolls. The food was absolutely amazing, and we thank Integreat for their fantastic catering.
Well done to our senior leaders for running an awesome event! Thank you to all of the staff and other students who helped make the afternoon such a success.
